Description
Duraseal sealant for neurosurgery
Duraseal system consists of sterile components for the preparation of an innovative hydrogel sealant and an applicator. The synthetic absorbable sealant is composed of two solutions, one solution polyethylene glycol (PEG) ester and other trilysine amine solution (referred to as “blue” and “bright” precursors respectively). When mixed, the crosslinking hydrogel precursors that form the sealant are absorbed in about 4 to 8 weeks, allowing time for healing.
Advantages
Strength: excellent tissue adhesion and cohesion force to withstand critical pressures.
Speed: readily prepared in less than two minutes and used within one-hour period.
When applied, forms a liquid tight seal in seconds.
Visibility: “distinctive” blue dye that provides a visual indication to evaluate the sealant’s thickness and coverage.
Security: 100% synthetic polyethylene glycol (PEG) safely absorbable after the body is naturally cured.
Convenience: single-use, kit stored at a temperature of 5 to 25ºC (41º to 77ºF).
Designation
DuraSeal sealant is effective, easy to implement and is used as an adjunct to sutures during cranial dura-mater repair surgery to provide sealed closure. The sealant system DuraSeal Dural is a leading innovator in surgical sealant biomaterials.
